The “Roaring Twenties” is a nickname for the years between 1920 and 1930 in the United States. It was a time of hope, prosperity, and cultural change. The economy was very strong, and people spent more money on entertainment and products.
Thanks to technological advances in industry “normal” people could buy products such as automobiles for the first time. Women got new rights, like the right to vote in 1919. Everything seemed like it was going great, and people thought that the good times would never end.

American Industry grew very fast during the 1920s. Mass production lowered the prices of products like automobiles, phonographs, and radios. Suddenly these products were available to the average middle-class family. For the first time, working-class families could buy a car. Many people bought cars on credit. Everyone wanted to own a radio and a car. A very important person in the development of mass production of cars was Henry Ford.
